Dion Xuereb, born on 30th August 1962, started his music studies at the age of eight, taking piano lessons with Mro Spiro Zammit. He studied Harmony, Theory of Music and Counterpoint with Mro Carmelo Pace, and violoncello at the School of Music, with Korean Professor Kim Sun Young and later with Miss Song.

He studied double bass in orchestral studies with Mro Joseph Sammut, resident conductor of the Manoel Theatre Orchestra, and technical studies with Mro Anothony Chircop, double bass teacher at the School of Music.

Dion has worked with the Manoel Theatre Orchestra, Orkestra Nazzjonali, and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also worked with the same orchestra for some time as acting principal of the Double Bass Section.
