The Malta International Arts Festival presents two major works by Beethoven and Shostakovich. Symphony No. 5 in C minor by Ludwig van Beethoven is widely considered as one of the cornerstones of western music. The Cello Concerto No 1 by Dmitri Shostakovich is perhaps the most popular twentieth-century cello concerto. The programme will also include Cataclysmus by Maltese composer Kristian Schembri. The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Michael Laus, featuring cellist Konstatin Manaev.
Beethoven-Shostakovich forms part of the Malta International Arts Festival organised by Festivals Malta
