The 2018 edition of the Malta International Arts Festival is brought to a close with a concert featuring works inspired by the sea, performed by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of young conductor Gergely Madaras.
Claude Debussy’s symphonic suite La Mer will be followed by a performance of Benjamin Britten’s Four Sea Suites, extracted from his opera Peter Grimes. Charles Camilleri’s first piano concerto, named “Mediterranean” will conclude the concert, with 13-year-old prodigy Dmitry Ishkhanov, a Maltese pianist of Russo-Armenian origin, taking up the solo role.
