The turn of the 19th century brought with it the first of nine symphonies that revolutionised music. Despite being inherently Classical, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 boasts innovative orchestration with unique textures and harmonisation. Conducted by Christopher Muscat, the MPO performs riveting works by Maltese composers, Albert Garzia’s Scent and Veronique Vella’s Fine Line, and is joined by famed pianist Kostantinos Destounis for Ravel’s dazzling Piano Concerto in G. The audience is transported to Fingal’s Cave with Mendelssohn’s gem Hebrides Overture.
