The MPO Digital Transformation

2020 marked a year of artistic endeavours digitally transforming Malta’s leading musical institution.

Striving to keep music alive through the MPO Online Programme entailed a number of initiatives such as Orchestra Resounds, #MPOTuesdays, Chamber Fridays and Musician Notes. These were devised in parallel with online concerts including Romantic Summer, Rebbieħa and Il-Kunċert tal-President għas-Sena l-Ġdida, and audio-visual productions like Smile and Where the Streets have No Name.

Received to great acclaim, these projects ensured that the MPO broadened its audience base exponentially whilst serving as a catalyst for positivity and bolstering Malta’s international standing in the creative industries. In 2020, the MPO produced over 60 releases, reaching over 11 million people – a 93% increase in reach compared to the previous year, with the orchestra garnering followers in 45 different countries.

The orchestra’s online programme shall ensue in the coming weeks, also with the upcoming launch of the 2nd edition of Chamber Fridays.
