Hilda Curmi
Development & Education Assistant
Prior to joining the MPO, what did it represent for you?
[HC]: Both my husband and his late father were musicians within the Orchestra for a long span throughout their respective careers. This has led me to appreciate not just the music but also the life of the musician away from the concert hall, with all its ups and downs.
Can you delineate your role within the orchestra?
[HC]: I am involved in the Development section within the Marketing Department, while also attending to the Educational aspects related to the Orchestra.
What do you cherish most from the MPO’s concerts?
[HC]: Each concert is a collective effort from all departments. It is the musicians one sees on the stage and they bear the most weight, however preparations for each concert start months in advance with each department contributing their expertise.
How would you describe music?
[HC]: Music is the universal language … through music one can connect across linguistic and cultural frontiers in ways that you cannot do with ordinary languages.
