When the Arts came to Town
The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) joins the Christmas spirit with a production poignantly capturing the unique circumstances surrounding this year’s festivities.
Presenting a family of artists helping Santa Claus in the delivery of presents, the story seeks to underline the importance of arts, acting as a catalyst for positivity whilst rekindling inspiration towards a more prosperous future. The creative industries, although facing numerous challenges, offered a source of motivation as society sought to adapt to the current realities. In parallel, cultural entities and practitioners shall play a pivotal role as countries establish a pathway back to “normality”.
Produced in collaboration with the Malta Film Commission, the video features the MPO performing a music composition by Daniel Cauchi inspired by the traditional carol Ninni, la tibkix iżjed.
The project is one in a series of initiatives launched by the orchestra for this Christmas season, following on Għanjiet tal-Milied – an educational initiative targeting primary schools presenting carols in the Maltese language in an interactive online kit.
