Musicals with the Malta Youth Orchestra! 

The Malta Youth Orchestra opens its 22/23 Concert Season performing with established singers, under the baton of eminent conductor Anthony Gabriele.  

Following the success of The Three Little Pigs Opera, the family event as part of the Malta Summer Festival, the orchestra will perform works from well-known musical film soundtracks and musical theatre, including The Greatest Showman, The Sound of Music, West Side Story and Les Misérables.   

In collaboration with Blacklight Studios, singers Rachel Fabri, Nadia Vella, Francesco Nicodeme, Joseph Zammit and Eleanor Spiteri will interpret iconic works like A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman, Excerpts from West Side Story and The Phantom of the Opera, in a night celebrating talent at the heart of Valletta.  

The night will be led by renowned conductor Anthony Gabriele who has established an international reputation for conducting with tremendous passion, with a profound knowledge and understanding of the repertoire. Gabriele is one of the finest conductors of ‘Film with Orchestra’ concerts. His repertoire includes Psycho, Vertigo, An American in Paris, Singin’ in the Rain, The Wizard of Oz, E.T.: the Extra-terrestrial, Home Alone, Jurassic Park and more.  

Returning to Pjazza Teatru Rjal from last season’s Opening Concert, the MYO aims to skill Malta’s talented young orchestral musicians, while giving them opportunities to develop their ambition. Aspiring musicians interested in joining the orchestra are invited to apply for the upcoming auditions to be held between November 4-7.
