The MPO wishes to thank Chris Spiteri who will be pursuing his career in a different capacity within the Cultural and Creative Industries after managing the Malta Youth Orchestra for a number of years.
Apt at a number of roles and boasting a plethora of diverse working experiences, Chris first collaborated with the MPO as a project manager on a number of international tours, the first being the China Concert Tour in December 2014.
A poignant highlight of his contribution towards the bolstering of the orchestra’s international visibility was certainly the MPO Valletta 2018 International Tour during which the MPO travelled to the United States of America and Russia performing at Carnegie Hall and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory amongst others.
Appointed as MYO Manager in 2017, Chris worked tirelessly to ensure that the institution “prepares today’s musicians for tomorrow’s orchestra”. Banking on strong interpersonal skills and witty personality, he forged a unique rapport with musicians and tutors alike. Amongst others, he played a key role in the establishing of the MPO Internship Programme, offering successful candidates one-to-one mentorship with section leaders, masterclasses and chamber music opportunities whilst performing alongside the MPO.
Whilst expressing its thanks for his work within the orchestra, the MPO augurs Chris success in his new endeavours as it looks forward to collaborating with him to contribute further towards Malta’s creative ecology.
