Michael Camilleri, a Gozitan percussionist, started studying music aged five at a local band club under Mro Joseph Grech. Broadening his studies for nine years with John Farrugia, Michael obtained all Trinity College of London certificates, including the ATCL, LTCL and FTCL Diplomas.
In April 2016, he debuted with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) as part-time percussionist. In 2018, he completed a Music Studies degree majoring in Performance, at the University of Malta. During this course, supervised by his tutor Daniel Cauchi, Michael became an all-rounder percussionist.
In September 2019 he was appointed Principal Timpanist of the MPO. Michael is currently mentored by Gregory Lecoeur, Principal Timpanist of Teatro del Maggio in Florence, Italy.
