Nadia Debono has been the Viola Principal of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) since2013. As a member of the MPO she has taken part in a number of concerts in prestigious hallsaround the world, such as Germany, Vienna, Prague, Russia,USA and Dubai.Her orchestral experience began in 1996 as a violinist of the Manoel Theatre Orchestra whichlater became the National Orchestra, then MPO. In 2001 she became co-leader of the MPO.She has also performed a number of times as a soloist with the orchestra.In her teenage years, Nadia has also played with various foreign orchestras, namely OrchestreDes Jeunes de la Méditerranée and National Youth Orchestra of Ireland.During her professional years, she has been asked as a guest viola with various orchestras,namely the European Union Orchestra and Italia International Orchestra, under the direction ofIon Marin and Fabio Luisi.

She started violin studies both privately and at the Malta School of Music. During her schoolstudies she performed Mozart Violin Concerto No.3, as a soloist with the School of MusicOrchestra.

In 2003 she began specializing in Baroque violin performance in London and later on Nadia alsofollowed an audition course and masterclass with the European Union Baroque Orchestra, afterwhich she was chosen to play in various concert tours across Europe. As a member of the NewCentury Baroque Orchestra, Nadia toured for concerts and also played in CD recordings.Nadia is also a member of the Valletta International Baroque Ensemble (VIBE), which is theresident ensemble of the prestigious Valletta International Baroque Festival. Together with VIBE,she works closely with a number of internationally renowned directors. They participate in manydifferent international festivals.

As a viola player with the MPO String Quartet, she has given concerts in Tunisia, Italy, Germanyand Belgium. Nadia is also a member of the Goldberg Ensemble, with which she participates inchamber music and Baroque choral and instrumental music.Nadia is also very active as a teacher of violin and viola. She teaches privately as well at theMalta School of Music.
