Malta International Music Festival #3
TIME: 7:00 PM till 8:00 PM
presented by the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC) ALENA BAEVA Violin Pietro Mascagni Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana The opening Intermezzo is one of the more poignant moments in Mascagni’s opera, the first musical work of the verismo movement combining realistic theatre with raw emotional music. Tchaikovsky’s work, originally deemed to hard to dance to, is arguably today’s most performed ballet, presenting a unique richness and depth. Alena Baeva takes the spotlight in the remaining works of the programme, performing Ravel’s Tzigane, exploiting traditional modes and rhythms, followed by Shor’s Seascapes and Saint Elmo Barcarolle.
