presented as part of the Symphonic Middle East Festival 2022 SERGEY SMBATYAN Conductor Programme: Edvard Grieg Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 The MPO opens the Symphonic Middle East Festival 2022 with a programme featuring Grammy-award winner Gil Shaham interpreting Tchaikovsky’s only violin concerto, popular for its melodic idiom, and Shor’s Seascapes . The orchestra opens the evening with Grieg’s Suite, an oeuvre derived from a larger body of works written for Henrik Ibsen’s play bearing the same name whilst also interpreting Debussy’ symphonic poem inspired by Mallarmé’s literature work. This concert is presented by CMDI Group and SAMIT Event Group, with the support of the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC).
