Acclaimed violinist Fumiaki Miura, youngest ever first-prize winner of the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition joins the MPO and Sergey Smbatyan in a virtuosic musical performance of Alexey Shor’s Violin Concerto No. 2 “Phantasms”, and Saint-Saëns’ Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso, a Spanish themed concertante work of spectacular fireworks.  

The programme comes to a grandiose close with a selection from Khachaturian’s Spartacus Ballet Suites, from the exhilarating Variation of Aegina and Bacchanalia to the entrancing beauty of Spartacus and Phrygia’s beloved Adagio.
