Chamber Fridays #1
TIME: 7:00 PM till 7:30 PM
REBECCA HALL Flute MPO Principal players Britt Arend (harp) and Rebecca Hall (flute) perform three works by master composers, arranged for flute and harp. The Entr’acte from Bizet’s opera Carmen is a moment of respite to contrast the fire and passion of the story unfolding on stage. Although sometimes attributed as a compositional collaboration with his children, Bach’s G Minor Sonata is a masterpiece in miniature, with exchanges between the voices, technical virtuosity and elegant melodies. Chopin’s only work for flute, based on variations on Cenerentola’s “Non più mesta”, tickles the ear while remaining true to the spirit of Rossini’s original melody.
