Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Divertimento in D major, K. 251 

Mozart’s Divertimento was written in the summer of 1776 probably to celebrate the name day or birthday of his elder sister Maria Anna. Nicknamed Nannerl and a musician herself, she performed with Wolfgang at a tender age as their father Leopold showcased their talents around European cities. 

Musical oeuvres of this genre were often composed, as the title suggests, to entertain guests during social functions, hence evoking a relaxed mood, nonetheless elegant and masterfully-crafted.
