Chamber Fridays² #3
TIME: 7:00 PM till 7:30 PM
presented under the distinguished patronage of the President of the Republic of Malta REBECCA HALL Flute Igor Stravinsky Octet for Wind Instruments Stravinsky recalled that he dreamt he was “surrounded by a small group of instrumentalists playing bassoons, trombones, trumpets, a flute, and a clarinet. I awoke from this little concert in a state of great delight and anticipation, and the next morning began to compose the Octet.” This chamber music gem is a world away from the “Rite of Spring” sound world of just a decade before and would be a harbinger of the neoclassic style that would dominate his next thirty years.
