Eminent violinist Carmine Lauri returns to lead the MPO Strings in a concert featuring an interpretation of Schubert’s work, originally intended for a string quartet and Grieg’s densely-textured string arrangement of 2 movements from his vocal work, 12 Melodies.

Dvorák inspired Suk to write the Serenade, remarking: “It’s summertime now, so go and make something lively for a change”. The programme also presents the one-movement symphony Mendelssohn composed aged 14, in a work showcasing the young master’s skills.

For the final piece of the concert, Lauri takes centre-stage for Tchaikovsky’s virtuoso piece for violin and orchestra.

This concert is presented with the support of Henley & Partners.
