Sofia Bianchi Maestre
Sofia commenced her musical studies at her hometown conservatory in La Línea de la Concepción before joining the prestigious Barenboim-Said Academy aged 14 under the tutorship of renowned double bass players Klaus Stoll and Joaqim Klier.
Winning the 1st prize of the Ibero-American Competition “MÚSICA MAESTRO” aged 16, she pursued her studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid under the tutelage of Duncan McTier and Antonio García Araque and subsequently at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona with Joaquín Arrabal Zamora.
Since 2013, she has collaborated with a number of orchestras, including the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra, serving as Principal Double Bass in 2022. Apart from an extensive chamber music experience, she was also awarded the prestigious High Specialization scholarship granted by the AIE, the Spanish society of artists and performers.
